Photoshop Elements Tutorial - The layers palette

Hello everyone!

Here is a short video on the layers palette in Photoshop (I am using Photoshop Elements 10). I made this video because I want to emphasize two very important points:

  • always put each digital element on a separate layer for easy customization
  • name your layers for easy navigation

You can also watch this video on YouTube

I think my next tutorial will be on some more advance digital scrapbooking techniques, but I really wanted to make these two videos as clipping masks and layers will make your life easier in the long run.

Jessica Sprague lessons - Bonus 1

Hello everyone!

I really enjoy this class as it is very well built. The Bonus classes are meant to make me apply on my own what I have learned during the previous class. There are no videos just instructions on the theme of the digital layout or just a starting point for the layout.

Here is my creation:

I have to confess that I did not create this layout out of scratch, the bonus lesson included the backbone for this layout.

Color Inspiration 2

Welcome for another color inspiration and we are back at my favorite store Anthropologie.

I chose this dress because of the blue shade. I just love it. I really like the design of the pattern, I like the stripes at the bottom of the dress, combined with the busy diamond-like shape on the front.

Photoshop ElementsTutorial - Creating clipping mask

Hello everyone!

This is my first video tutorial in what I hope will be a series of tutorials on digital scrapbooking.

This tutorial is on creating clipping masks in Photoshop (I am using Photoshop Elements 10). I chose this topic because I believe clipping masks are at the base of a good digital scrapbooking layout.

You can also watch this video directly on YouTube

There is lag between my voice and the image, I am sorry about that. I will play around with the settings on my screen capture software to eliminate it.

The psd template that I showed you in the video is from noreimerreason.com.

Jessica Sprague lessons

Hello everyone!

I've decided to take some of the well praised classes from the Jessica Sprague website as I want to learn Photoshop and how to use those tools for digital scrapbooking.

I started out with the beginners class and over the following weeks I will show you my work. And here is the result from lesson 1:

Each class has a video for Photoshop Elements or for just Photoshop, where the process of building a page is explained step by step. Every video is divided into tasks so I can easily follow along. The explanations are clear, concise and easy to follow.

This is more of a introductory class, where she taught me the layout of Photoshop (I am using Photoshop Elements 10) and how to:
  • Identify the main areas of the Photoshop user interface
  • Use the Move tool to move items into place
  • Rearrange layers in the Layers palette
  • Resize and rotate images
  • Add .png elements to a layout
  • Use the Type tool to add a text block
  • Save a layout for both print and the web
Some of these thing I already knew how to do, but it's nice to hear from a professional.

Ohh.....forgot to mention some of the journaling or titles will be in Romanian, so you won't understand that much. Sorry about that, but I plan to print some of my layouts.

Color inspiration 1

Hello all!!

Here we are at another color inspiration set. This is another dress that I like from my favorite store Anthropologie. I love the color combination, but mostly the balance between the colors: there is just enough pink and blue to make it fun and summery and not overcrowded. Even though I love the dress, I am not sure I would wear it, as I am petite.

Here are the Bazzill colors:

Ebony Bazzill Cardstock
Baby Pink Medium Bazzill Cardstock
Tangelo Blast Bazzill Cardstock
Mardi Gras Bazzill Cardstock
Mystic Bazzill Cardstock
